Apex legends, apex legends battle pass, apex legends season 22, apex legends season 22 battle pass
EA has pulled off a classic EA movies made a major change that reeks of controversy with regards to cash-grabbing. The Apex community isn’t too happy with the changes to the Apex account battle pass, even though the developers claim that they will improve the user experience. Let’s dive right into the announced changes and see what all the fuss is about!
The New Battlepass Will Be Split into Two
That’s right, in an unusual move, EA has decided to change the number of levels from 110 to two portions of 60 levels across two mini-battle passes. Each of the Apex Legends battle passes will have the following tracks:
- Free Track: This track will give you the chance to earn 200 Apex coins and 7 Apex packs, taking your total for the season to 400 and 14, respectively. You also get access to an Epic Character Skin, an Epic Weapon Skin, and an Epic Standing Emote for each split.
- Premium Track: You’ll be able to earn 1300 Apex Coins, 2400 Crafting Materials, 10 Exotic Shards, 17 Apex Packs, 3 Legend-Thematic Packs, 2 Legendary Character Skins, 1 Legendary Weapon Skin, and 1 Reactive Weapon in each split.
- Premium+ Track: In addition to the rewards offered in the premium track, this new premium+ track will feature 2 legendary character skins that will remain exclusive for a year and 10 additional Exotic Shards.
Price
Most significantly, EA has removed the option of purchasing the battle pass using the Apex coins earned in the game.
So even though players will be able to earn more coins through the new structure, they can’t use them to purchase the next Apex Legends battle pass when it rolls out! The Premium and Premium+ tracks will cost you $9.99 and $19.99 per split, respectively.
EA has tried to defend this move by claiming that the new structure provides better value for money as there are significantly greater rewards available across the Apex Legends battle pass.
While that might be true, the higher rewards simply do not justify the removal of the option to purchase the battle pass using Apex Coins.
The public feels that this is an attempt by EA to milk out as much money as they can from a falling fanbase before the game dies.
Trackers are being removed
EA has stated on their official site that they’ll be removing the base-level trackers from the Apex Legends battle pass as they are extremely underutilized.
The fully-designed ones will remain though, so don’t lose too much sleep over this change!
Conclusion
It’s clear that Apex has not done their homework on this one. The backlash is only growing every passing day, and unless EA wants their game to die out soon, they will have to appease the gaming community somehow.
That said, EA has yet to respond to this controversy, and how they will respond to it is yet to be seen in the coming days.
